Traditional river cross section measurement method are waste the time, waste the labor cost, and the data are limited in time.
River cross section Measurements using ground penetrating radar in order to shorten the time of measurement, reduce expenses. of measurement, reduce the risk of Surveying personnel, increase the measurement frequency and obtain the continuity of river cross section.
The study area is Beishih basin . The study establishes the ground-penetrating radar measurement and data analysis process. In this study using the ground-penetrating radar imaging, electromagnetic wave amplitude of ground -penetrating radar, and Transform the electromagnetic wave amplitude use Hilbert-Huang Transform to analysis the river bed location. It can obtain the continuity of river cross section when the GPR data analysis process complete. Compare the differences of river cross section area with the traditional method, the river cross section area differences about 15% that’s a compare result. It’s proved using ground-penetrating radar can application for river cross section measurement.
