Along with newly developed technology, Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing and Computer Aided Engineering, etc, are getting popular and become effective tools for the vehicle design. This thesis focused on vehicle front end structure optimization considering impact safety. Since front horns were the main structures absorbing impact energy in an engine compartment, a front horn structure was used as the main example. In the study, Pro/Engineering was used for the Computer Aided Design, Hypermesh for pre-processing and finite element mesh. Front impact safety regulations were used as the design and analysis criteria. RADIOSS was used as the analysis solver. The analysis results were compared with the data in the literatures to ensure the quality of the analysis models. The optimization was carried out using Latin Hypercube for gage and full factorial for configuration optimization. From the results, it showed Computer Aided Engineering could effectively predict the vehicle front impact behaviors. The proposed optimization method utilized limited data to minimize the vehicle weight and still meet the required front impact performance. The data showed 3% more of energy absorption, 5% impact peak force reduction, but without any weight incremental. It provided auto industry an effective design guide. 黃秀英 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 69 zh-TW
