DPP derivatives attaching alkyl chain on 2,5-positions to improve the solubility and different functional groups on 3,6-positions to change the absorption properties were designed and synthesized. Two DPP-Based compounds, P1DPP and P2DPP exhibited UV-Vis absorption bands around 260 to 620nm and 260 to 600nm in DMF solution, in where absorption wavelengths were 320nm and 506nm, 338nm and 497nm corresponding absorption coefficient were 1.68×104 and 0.80×104, 5.54×104 and 2.83×104 M-1cm-1. The HOMO and LUMO for these two compounds had been evaluated by CV and UV to be-5.74 eV and -3.47 eV, -5.86 eV and -3.58 eV, respectively. The incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of P1DPP and P2DPP were 17 % and 35 % under simulated AM 1.5 solar irradiation of 100 mW/cm2.
