In order to relief the stress from losing sense of mastery, people developed various perfectionist behavior on the details of life, which is considered as “Gumo”(which has the similar meaning with “anal retentive” in Southern Min language) in other people’s perspective. Those personal characters do not interference in other people's should be respected in the society valued of creativity and differentiation,. Besides, the perfectionist and the critical personality of designers help them to make better products. To show the positive sentiment of Gumo behavior, this research aims to make observations and interviews of Gumo behavior. Compiled three categories of Gumo behavior: order with Gumo, mysophobia with Gumo, persistence with Gumo. Combining the inspiration from Gumo behavior and design elements such as humor and minimalism, six concept product design are presenting under the directive of "fun, but not ridiculed": Book Comb, Tri Stapler, Desktop Anchor, Toilet Rapier, Note Canopy, and Fair Pot. These design works not only show the support of Gumo behavior, but also help people to understand this by interaction with these concept products. Through the observation of Gumo behavior in the process of study and creation, we could discover the details which we mostly ignored in daily life. These details might help designers to make better products. Furthermore, designers could not only acquired their insight from daily life, but also look through the perspectives of Gumo to obtain inspirations for their design works.
