Chemotherapy is associated with adverse side effects such as nausea/vomiting, letheragy and leukopenia- associated infection, which influence quality of life of these patients . To address these side effects, it is often necessary to prescribed medical intervention. In the other hand, exercise training has been utilizing as the non-medical treatments to assist patients with some chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases to improve their quality of life. The hospital health education guide sheets for breast cancer chemotherapy period in Taiwan are focusing on arm exercises, but the instructions of aerobic walking are relatively rare. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic walking on the immunological marker and quality of life in breast cancer patients during chemotherapy. This study has applied quasi-experimental design. Data were collected from breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy from a medical center in Southern Taiwan from October, 2008 to July , 2009. The research subjects were randomly divided into experiment and control groups at outpatient service. Telephone interviews were proceeded every two weeks, and research objects, immunization index (lymphocyte CD3+、CD8+、CD4+、CD25+、CD3+/CD8+、CD4+/CD25+) and life quality (SF-36) were examined before chemotherapy and after the third and sixth chemotherapy sessions. Exercise health education was instructed to the research participants in experiment group, and walking exercise was practiced at least five times per week, from30 minutes at the beginning, gradually increased to 60 minutes each time. The data collected were analyzed with Chi-square test, T test, paired T test, and repeated measures ANOVA . There is no significant decrease in immunization index in patients of experiment group which has been instructed with walking exercise. Number of serum lymphocyteCD3+、CD8+、CD3+/CD8+、CD4+、CD25+、CD4+/CD25+ increased the 3rd session of chemotherapy and to a significant value the 6th chemotherapy (p<0.05). In addition, the result of life quality has been shown that, after practicing walking training on the experiment group, the body function, acting limitations, body pain, vigor, social function, emotional limitation, and mental health were greatly improved(p<.05). To conclude, this study has pointed out that aerobic walking is able to improve , immunological and body functions during the chemotherapy for breast cancer. The life of quality are also improved. The walking training proposed in this study can be utilized as the guideline for professional health care workers of breast cancer chemotherapy in the future to improve the health condition of breast cancel patients. none 彭台珠 2010/08/ 學位論文 ; thesis 125 zh-TW
