The competition pattern has also sharply changed lately with continuous technology innovation. To be survival in this challenging industry, how a hospital can operate efficiently through effective customer or patient service is vital. Organizational citizenship behavior denotes a mood and action that organization members hold in their routine works. Behavior of this kind is particularly important to a hospital in which involving wide variety of disciplines and professionals, of which makes a complete documentary guideline impossible. This research assumes that a higher levels of organizational citizenship behavior may enhance the extent of individual’s person-environment fit, and these two variables will jointly motivate and maintain high standard of organizational learning, through which the organization gains competitiveness. This study collected 315 valid questionnaires from a regional hospital in Pingtung. The results show positive association between organizational citizenship behavior, person-environment fit, and adaptive organizational learning of individuals; the person-environment fit is strongly affected by the organizational citizenship behavior; the person-environment fit mediates the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational learning of individuals. Test result indicates that the person-environment fit is superior to the organizational citizenship behavior in enhancing organizational learning, yet the higher OCB produce better P-E fit. This research implies that practitioners shall create a climate that fosters OCB and accordingly better P-E fit in their hospitals.
