Summary:碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 休閒健康管理研究所 === 98 === “Food” plays a very important role in the human life. Distinct cultural background and region reflect differently in food ingestion, production and distribution. In other words, the food reflects not only the producing and surviving system but also the unique cultural characteristic of a society. This research takes the tribe rukai of Wanshan in Kaosiung County as the discussing object to explore the food characteristic of the society and its role in the ordinary people’s lives via observation and interview. The dissertation also likes to further understand the change of the tribe’s food culture under the influence of time and market economy, as well as the impact to the traditional system, the social regulation and custom due to the change. The research found that because of the tribal migration and the death of the elders, the traditional millet cultivation which people attached almost has disappeared. Moreover, the traditional food habit changes a lot after the ruling of Japan and the KMT government as well as the influence of capitalism and market economy over the past years.
