Summary:碩士 === 南台科技大學 === 應用英語系 === 98 === The aim of the research is to find : (1) whether students have the listening ability to distinguish long and short vowels on the base of phonics, (2) whether K.K. improves students’ listening ability of distinguishing long and short vowels, (3) what is students’ response to K.K. teaching method. Twenty four students of grade-six and one qualified English teacher participated in the research. The research adopted quantitative research method and provided K.K. classes for students. The ways included in quantitative methods were pretest and post test. The pretest was implemented and then the English teacher taught students K.K. After K.K. classes, the post test was implemented. The researcher collected and analyzed the result of the two tests. The research adopted qualitative methods as well. The qualitative methods included open-ended questionnaire, interview and classroom observation. The researcher collected data, found clues and analyzed them. According the result of the two tests, the students got better consequence in post test after K.K. classes. The students also had positive response to K.K. teaching and expressed affirmatively that K.K. could benefit them. The research also offered suggestions: (1) although K.K. could benefit students’ listening ability of distinguishing long and short vowels, it could increase their burden (2) the research was implemented in a countryside elementary school and the research consequence might be unsuitable for urban schools or classes with many students.
