The results were by chemical titration for the degree of substitution analyzed and by (Nuclear magnetic resonance) and (Fourier transform infrared spectrometer) for the structural analysis and (Gel Permeation Chromatography) for molecular weight analysis. In this work, changing the conditions investigated the influential factor of the Degree of substitution and molecular weight. In this research, the cotton was activated with time period before synthetic cellulose acetate, and the analysis showed that increasing the activated time increased the degree of substitution, but the activation of the cotton has the favorable time for degree of substitution. The catalyst volume effected the degree of substitution increased, but the molecular weight decreased. Increasing the esterification temperature and esterification time effected the degree of substitution and molecular weight decreased, and increasing the hydrolysis time also caused same result. After product is dry by the glacial acetic acid controlled the molecular weight distribution, that didn’t narrow significantly the distribution; however, the action controlled the molecular weight distribution, that improved to narrow the distribution.
