Both were government-licensed industries. Because of the various changes in the internal and external environment, the management style of the FIFMI also changed. The purpose of the study was to identify the kinds of innovative business strategies the FIFMI should adopt to compete in the increasingly intense and competitive environment and to maintain their competitive advantages. The study used in-depth interviews, a qualitative research method. The selected participants were companies that were authorized by the supervising agency; their business item, code JZ99141, a funeral and interment facilities management item, had obtained approval from Ministry of Economic Affairs; and were members of the Funeral and Interment Facilities Management Association. The related information was obtained from face-to-face in-depth interviews, using an interview outline designed for the study. The study found that to achieve the goal of sustainable management, FIFMI required not only sufficient capital, high-quality services, and continuous innovative business strategies, but also the approval and legal license from government agencies and the expansion of various resources.
