The computer code allows quick calculations of the system’s performances, such as the refrigeration capacity, power consumption, and system COP, etc., and thus accelerating the optimal refrigerator designs. Refrigerant R-134a was used in the simulation study. A verified simulation of a small refrigeration system, with known system performance, was first completed to ensure the accuracy of the code. The code was then used for the refrigerator design. Through the change of the condensing pressure, the computation results that the evaporating pressure, system pressure difference, degree of liquid subcooling, and the refrigerant flow rate also increased. However, the refrigeration capacity, and system COP decreased. Through the numerical simulation, a parametric study can now be performed, which results in an energy saving system design quickly.
