Description
Summary:碩士 === 聖約翰科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系碩士班 === 98 === The purpose of this study is to preliminarily set up and explore an optimal time pattern for the inflation and the deflation to dynamic-type air cushions (DTACs) we developed so as to achieve the best effect of pressure-ulcer prevention and cure for said air cushions. In this study, we categorize the time ratios of the inflation and the deflation into three modes, viz. the first time pattern (with an inflation-deflation ratio of 50% to 50%), the second time pattern (with a ratio of 75% to 25%) and the third time pattern (with a ratio of 25% to 75%), and proceed with tests and comparisons related to the pressure-ulcer prevention-and-cure effects with various periods for the DTAC. The actual tests throughout this study are conducted by letting each test subject separately sit on a flat wooden chair, a ROHO™ air cushion and a DTAC, using all the three time patterns for the DATC. Each individual test takes three hours. During the test, the subject records his buttock-pain-related data on a questionnaire once every 15-minute. Said pain is classified into five categories, viz. 1- Comfortable, 2- Slightly painful, 3- Somewhat painful, 4- Very painful, and 5- Acutely painful. The data collected from the related test questionnaires are then systematically analyzed. We discover in this study that all subjects cannot endure a long sitting on the flat wooden chair and that although the ROHO™ cushion noticeably restricts the pain feelings, its effect still cannot match that of each of the DTAC’s three time patterns. Among the time patterns, we find that the first time pattern exhibits the lowest average accumulated pain level, followed by the second time pattern, with the third time pattern exhibiting the highest level. Among the various periods, the lowest average accumulated pain level goes to 300 seconds, followed by 120 seconds and then 720 seconds, with 480 seconds exhibiting the highest pain level. Accordingly, we conclude that a DTAC set up with the first time pattern along with a 300-second period may render the optimal effect of pressure-ulcer prevention and cure for its user’s buttock.
