The study aims to explore the tacit knowledge arising from writing process of patent engineers. A qualitative in-depth interview approach for senior patent engineers is adopted, along with a systematical construction of patent writing process, to sum up five knowledge criteria of patent writing including “technological characteristics”, “pilot search and analysis”, “writing of patent specification”, “examining of specification” and “patent application”. A “IF”, “THEN” and “BECAUSE” coding method is also utilized in this approach for exploring the interview results, thereby revealing the findings of tacit knowledge in patent writing process among knowledge extraction, knowledge transmission and sharing, and knowledge gathering, respectively. The study concludes as follow: 1. Patent writing process can be divided into four periods: preparation, writing, proofreading and application. 2. This study solicited five major categories via literature: “technical features of patent”, “patent pilot search and analysis”, “patent writing”, “patent proofreading”, “patent application and miscellaneous”. 3. Tacit knowledge of the patent writing by Patent Engineer summarized as follows, (a) The technical characteristics and grasping of the patent writing; (b) To determine the scope of patent applications by retrieving and analyzing patent according to the technical features; (c) To write a consistent description of patent based on the scope of patent applications. It is better that proofreader has involved a project to fairly investigate the new cases. It is suitable to learn experiences from a senior proofreader, And it is also possible to know whether the patent is understandable for general population when the proofreader is fresh. 4. Passing on and sharing of tacit knowledge in patent writing rely on experience of senior patent engineer and training to further enhance the quality. 5. The source of tacit knowledge in patent writing comes from consultingsenior patent engineers, reading patent, or reviewing patent cases; The results may be provided to researchers interested in tacit knowledge extraction and it facilitates fast introducing tojunior patent engineers, inventors or researchers. none 阮明淑 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 145 zh-TW
