Summary: | 碩士 === 世新大學 === 經濟學研究所(含碩專班) === 98 === The main purpose of this is to explore “The impact on Attendance with Competitive Balance .”This article uses five kinds of competitive balance index , they are Standard Deviation of Win-Loss Percentages , CR3 index , Hefindahl-Hirschman Index , Relative Entropy , and Gini Coefficient , to measure the competitive balance of Central League and Pacific League in Japanese Professional Baseball League . include competitive degree between two teams of the game , and the ability of the deployment with coaches . We use ordinary least squares(OLS) for estimation to evaluate the relationship between the independent variables and attendance . Data used for analysis in the dissertation is used from the regular games in JPBL in the season 2008 . In dependent variable , we use two way of dependent , one is attendance per game ,another is the rate of full capacity .
Result of this study show:The competitive balance degree with league , there is positive relationship with Central League , means that while league in more uncertainty , attendance will increase .It is conform to our expect value . There is negatitive relationship with Picific League , means that while league in more uncertainty , attendance will decrease . The competitive with two team of the game , if the sum of score in last game is more , attendance will increase in this game . If the difference of score in last game is more ,attendance will increase in this game . And the ability of the deployment with coach , is positive relationship to attendance , so team managers should training or hiring more professional coaches .
We suppose that , the reason to affect the difference result of competitive balance in two leagues , is difference of the rules , just like announce starting pitcher , or the history of the teams and leagues . According to our reaserch ,the competitive degree between two teams of the game , is very important to effect attendance , so ,teams and leagues should think about how to improve the competitive degree between two teams .
