Owing to the sense of uncertainty, they ought to finish tasks that assigned by supervisors even suffering from negative emotions. If we pay much attention to new policeman that would face considerable pressure and mood problems, regrettable matters probably can be avoided and prevented. Not only do new policemen have to obey supervisors’ command but they should deal with official duties against the public whose dissatisfaction decrees procedures limited. It’s hard to know how burdening pressure and values confrontation for being a policeman. We take each police station of Taipei County Government as research objects to know what reasons cause new policemen and policewomen unable to adapt when they carry out official duties. Moreover, we analyze police officers adaptability from different aspects including external environment, internal organization, working status, personal family factor. As for external environment, it’s challenge to execute official duties and suffer from frustration for policemen and policewomen because the public have different evaluation on them. As for internal organization, police agency is proud of serving to the public so many official duties that new police officers did have been deviated. As for working status, it’s hard to adapt shift system and standby duty for new police officers. As for personal family factor, personal characteristics will affect adaptability on job but family support is the critical factor. Additionally, we found there are various ways that can improve new police officers adaptability and they can gain motivation by helping other people in need, obtaining experiences with mentoring system, the public support, feeling the sense of achievement from work and family support. Besides, the differences adaptability between new policemen and policewomen is that policewomen can’t be competent to adapt duty zone inspection, midnight duty and the public acceptance to policemen and policewomen and policewoman cared by family because of gender division. We advise that duty systems design should reach balance between work and family and fulfill training and elimination system in research. What’s more, we focus on new police officers’ on-the-job training and work arrangement step by step to reduce inadaptability to policemen and policewomen.
