Summary: | 碩士 === 世新大學 === 資訊管理學研究所(含碩專班) === 98 === WIMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is one of the most promising wireless metropolitan area networks (MAN) technology in recent years. The multi-hop technology introduced in IEEE 802.16J standard uses RSs(Relay Stations) to avoid undesirable transmission path, to extend the coverage of base station and to increase the capacity of base stations. But the introduction of RSs increases the complexity of network environments which might result in high frequency of handover. Frequent handover will cause poor performance because of higher possibility of transmission interruption Therefore, handover between BS(Base Station) and RS(Relay Station) becomes an important issue.
This thesis proposes a handover mechanism which assumes each mobile RS is equipped with a GPS device in WIMAX networks. do not destroy the structure, but also reduce unnecessary handover, and to improve the accuracy of handover.
