However, the meanings and the usages are not exactly the same. This thesis is about comparative analyzing between these two words from the cognitive semantics and collocation viewpoints. First of all, I examed the combinations of “hiroi” and “ookii” with the nouns come after by using corpus and then analyzing these two words with the collocation viewpoint. Secondly, by investigating the process of meaning formation and the connection between each meaning form prototype and meaning extension viewpoints in cognitive semantics, we can picture the semantic network to clarify the difference between these two words. The fallowing are the results of this research. 1. In the domain of space, “hiroi” is mainly applied to express two-dimensional concept (the plane) but less to express three-dimensional concept (the whole). On the contrary, “ookii” is mainly applied to express three-dimensional concept (the whole) but less to express two-dimensional concept (the plane). 2. In the domain of non-space, “hiroi” is applied to modify those with two-dimensional concept, for instance abstract plane or the width in a range. On the other hand, the objects which “ookii” is applied to modify are not limited in the concept of space. Therefore, the number of meaning which extended by similitude of “ookii” is much more then “hiroi”. Jiin-chiueh Lai 賴錦雀 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 162 |
