The rise of healthy consciousness urges people to how effectively control the body weight to concern and notice more. This study will aim at two different functional foods (protamine and catechins green tea), respectively, to explore its effect on lipid metabolism in vivo, by observation of blood lipid concentrations and body composition changes, further understands the related action mechanism of both functional composition to the weight control. Experiment 1 explores the effect of protamine on lipid absorption in vivo after the high fat diet. Healthy adult subjects (n=18), adopt randomized double-blind crossover trial basis were divided into experimental group (Protamine capsule) and control group (Placebo capsule), the period of observation during the experiment with a total of 37 days. During the treatment periods, subjects were given about 43.2g fat added per day and 2 experimental capsules per meal. Subjects carried out the fasting blood sample and anthropometric measurements in each treatment period at before and after. On the last 3 days of each treatment period, feces were collected to measure the excretion of lipids. The results showed that after eating Protamine capsule the subjects of significantly lower percentage of body fat and body fat mass (P<0.05), were decreased 3.82% and 3.72%, respectively; fasting plasma glucose significantly decreased 7.08% (P<0.01); HDL-C significantly increased 10.53% (P<0.01). In addition, the total fecal weight, fat and neutral sterol content higher than Placebo capsule, but not reach statistical difference. Experiment 2 assesses the effect of catechin green tea on body fat and observes whether the adverse effects on the body. Simple obese subjects (n = 24), adopt single-blind controlled trial methods were divided into experimental and control groups, experimental period of 12 weeks. The control group is the market green tea (including catechin 84 mg), the experimental group is the catechin green tea (including catechin 546 mg). Drinks the quantity is the 700ml/day, at lunch and after dinner each drink 350ml/bottle. The trial period to maintain normal eating habits and lifestyle, at 0, 6, 12 weeks testing the first determination of the safety index (including the normal conditions, blood routine examination, blood biochemical analysis, urine examination, heart and lung function tests, diet and activity records the amount of assessment, muscle mass and BEE); 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 weeks and the test the first determination of the effectiveness of indicators (including BMI, waist-hip ratio and body fat). The results showed that long-term (12 weeks) consumption of catechin green tea, there is no adverse impact on the body, helping to improve the serum lipids, significant increase in HDL-C(+5.49%) and reducing LDL-C(-9.21%)(P<0.05); can effectively reduce the body weight, BMI and body fat (P<0.05), were decreased 2.34%, 2.34% and 8.29%, respectively. In summary, protamine and catechin green tea can reduce the dietary lipid is absorbed, to reduce body fat, thus preventing and improving the overweight or obesity caused by lifestyle-related diseases.
