Those firms usually used passive strategy to follow the leader firms in the competitive market because they lacked resources and the needs of their users should be conform. However, leader firms own more competitive advantages than most of second source suppliers. Therefore, the study is interested in the strategy which second source suppliers were used to compact to the leader firm.
In addition to base on the resource-based and market- demand views to form competitive strategies, the study attempt to explore different strategies which fit to second source suppliers need by investigating in the process of new product development.
By deeply interviewing our study case, we bring up following four propositions:
Proposition 1: In the growth period of the yield, second source suppliers are accumulate the higher relation capital, which will be more contribution to establish the next trading relationships.
Proposition 2: In the improvement period of the yield, second source suppliers by the economic interests of the greater, and then the possibility of the establishing trade relations with their customers will be higher.
Proposition 3.1: In the maturity period of the yield, second source suppliers owned the skills of acquiring the new opportunity for their customs, and then second source suppliers will have the transaction opportunity to be higher.
Proposition 3.2: In the maturity period of the yield, products, which were relatively better quality, were supplied to their customers by second source suppliers, and then second source suppliers will have the transaction opportunity to be higher.
Proposition 3.3: In the maturity period of the yield, second source suppliers made sacrifices for their customers, and then second source suppliers will have the transaction opportunity to be higher.
