R. Abstract: The purpose of the thesis is to discuss the study of Russian derived words in Taiwan. In linguistics, the problem of Russian derived words is a part of important subject. When foreigners are learning Russian, one of the key points is to understand the Russian prefixes and suffixes. Word formation - a section of the science of language, which studies the structure of words and methods of forming words. Under the derived words is often understood, that the formation of words only with the help of affixes - prefixes and suffixes. 1. Research objects The objects are Russian derivative composition. At first, we show all Russian affixes - prefixes and suffixes. Then, we analyzed and discussed the words in book of lexical minimum for an elementary level knowledge of Russian as a foreign language. 2. Research results The followings results are obtained: 1） The most difficult for Taiwanese students was the selection of suffixes (the result - less than 10%). 2） The analysis of lexical minimum for an elementary level knowledge of Russian as a foreign language we selected derived words in number of 342 units. 3） We have identified and described four subgroups: I. Derived words, formed with suffixes: 197 units. II. Derived words, formed with prefixes: 53 units. III. Derivatives, formed by compounding: 47 units. IV. The complex derivative: 45 units. 4） Studying Russian derivative words is desirable to conduct a phased manner, taking into account the logical-semantic relations between producing and derivatives of words. 5） Describing each of the identified subgroups of derivative words, determining the ratios of derivatives between related words, and some nests of words. 3. Research materials We used dictionary «Словообразовательный словарь русского языка» by Тихонов А.Н and book «Лексический минимум по русскому языку как иностранному. Элементарный уровень» by Т.В.Козлова.
