碩士 === 亞東技術學院 === 材料應用科技研究所 === 99 === For people with a limb mobility problem due to aging, stroke or other factors, or for frail people who have just gone through a major operation, walkers can be used to support these people and help to maintain their stability while walking. Although there are many different types of walkers in the market, there have been very few discussions and research assessments on the design and practicality of these walkers. This study on the multi-function walker analyzed the existing walkers in the market, and added new functions to the areas suggesting inadequacy. The functions of the walker developed in this study include the following: (1) The walker is installed with wheels and brakes, which helps a person with a mobility problem to move the walker effortlessly and control the walker. (2) The walker is equipped with an armrest where the height and angle can be adjusted, which helps a person with a mobility problem to easily grip and move the walker. (3) The walker is equipped with a seat, which allows a person with a mobility problem to sit and rest at any time. (4) The walker is equipped with an auxiliary package with fixed frame that can carry an oxygen bottle, drip, drainage bottle and other auxiliary equipment, especially convenient for users who are hospitalized. (5) The walker is equipped with footpads which can be rotated and stored. (6) The walker can be folded, which saves space and can be conveniently put into a car to be brought outdoors. The walker has gone through Taipei Veteran General Hospital's clinical trials and has undergone several modifications and improvements. The safety and functional features are in compliance with doctors' and users' requirements.
