Summary: | 碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 光電與材料科技研究所 === 98 === In this thesis, we proposed a simple technique for side polishing an optical fiber and forming a D-shaped fiber. By the way, novel optical filter using the D-shaped optical fiber was fabricated in using of the photolithography technique. Firstly, a multimode optical fiber was used to side polish to the core surface to form a D-shaped fiber using the power detection method. Secondly, a photoresist was used to form a surface Bragg grating on the core surface in terms of the holographic technology. The experiments showed that the depth of the side-polished fiber could be accurately controlled. The loss of the D-shaped fiber is less than 0.1dB, measured using loss meters. In addition, the period and the depth of the surface Bragg grating can be easily controlled in terms of an accurate rotating stage and expose time of photoresist in photolithography. The period and depth of the grating were measured in using oh AFM technology. Finally, the transmission characteristics of the filter were measured in terms of Optical Spectral Analyzer (OSA)
