By setting up a free software English learning platform and designing a series of teaching models and activity examples for collaborative learning in English teaching, a quasi-experiment is conducted in the study. The subjects from eighth graders are separated into experimental group and control group. Furthermore, through the process of this research, students’ motivation and interest in learning can be enhanced. And students may enjoy the processes of interaction and knowledge sharing in collaborative learning. In addition to the experiment, study evaluates the results and appropriateness of applying free software(Podcast、Blog、Wiki)and online social network (Facebook) to English learning platform in junior high students English teaching as well as recording the learning processes of students on the platform. The result of the study reveals that the platform are helpful for learning attitude, English grades , knowledge sharing and learning satisfaction of students in experimental group. The degree of the system acceptance for eighth graders in junior high toward free software English learning platform is high. We can predict subjective learning effect by measuring system acceptance of the students. According to the learning process analysis, teacher’s involvement would improve the learning dynamics in the classroom and continuous using the platform for students would be the key to making progresses in English learning.
