We propose a design in which an embedded system is powered by dual rechargeable batteries and the batteries don't operate simultaneously. We propose a linear programming based approach to extend the lifetime of batteries. With the proposed approach, the lifetime of a battery will be extended and the design complexity of the system will be reduced. A simulation model is built to investigate the performance of the proposed approach.
