Taking the cell phone industry as an example, customers ask more for functions and usability and competitive pressure for price and shorter product life time also becomes higher and higher. This makes the continuous knowledge creation more impor-tant than ever before. Accordingly, the research thesis conducts a case study where ten subjects from the high management level of communication system division are interviewed. The interview agenda for the adoption perception as-sessment include knowledge creation, confirmation, acquisition, classification and storage, sharing, and application. Research results from data analysis indi-cate: (1) generally, the subjects show positive responses for the KM principles. However, it is necessary to develop a knowledge base of function module for the engineering transfer operation; (2) the functions (e.g. knowledge creation) of KM are useful in support product design, in particular for the innovation of the existing products; For the knowledge confirmation, the evaluation results of the design parameters and evaluation mechanism should be totally consistent with the format of the KM system; (3) For the system requirement, subjects suggested that the ere should be Internet searching and on-line community fo-rum; and (4) knowledge classification should be operated by the specialists to enhance the classification correctness and evaluation effectiveness.
