The stocks, which have two sections with different diameters, are shipped along with cylindrical steel bars. The machine developed by this work composes of three modules: holding fixture, XY table and grinding wheel. They are connected to the system control device through the interface of motor drivers and data acquisition units. Based on the analysis of the manufacturing process of Teflon catheters, a graphical user interface was then developed for the operation of machine. Equipped with a surface grinding wheel, the machine developed can effectively create the necessary profile on the Teflon tubes. Surface roughness tester and optical inspection device are used to measured to quality of output products. The experimental data shows that the average roughness of the products approximately equals 0.11μm(Ra) and the geometric profiles of the product meet the functional requirements.
