Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 書畫藝術學系 === 98 === Yian-Tao Liu is a famous painter from China to Taiwan. He had been the post-constitutional Member of Control Yuan for 43 years and is a member of the Seven Friends Painting Society. As an artist, his poetry, calligraphy and painting characterize Chinese literati's paintings. Most of the researches about Yian-Tao Liu in the past are published in one aspect way and are just simple writings. This research collects his personal painting albums, important compilations and various data collected by the public or the private comprehensively; then, we put them in order. Through the method of analysis, comparison, induction, and survey, the research shows his backgrounds, biographical information and artworks, his source of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting with other seniors, the interflow, his achievement, and contributions completely. Also, the research studies the characteristics and the value of literati’s calligraphy and paintings. There are 609 Yian-Tao Liu’s poetry in “The drafted poetry of Master Liu Yian- Tao,” a hand written copy, edited by Ping Wu. Most of them are jueju. The poetries sing natural’s praise, express nostalgia for his hometown, and show his concern for the country and the people of the state, his respect to the ancients and their moralities, his appreciation from life experiences, and his opinions toward calligraphy and painting. The poetries with Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Zen’s beauty thought are full with wisdom. Besides, Yian-Tao Liu emphasizes the spirit of poetry must shows the equal value of what kind of person he is and speak for the present generation. The 300s poetries with paintings record Taiwan’s feet and reveal his love and identification of Taiwan. By following You-Ren Yu’s studies, Yian-Tao Liu edited and promoted “Standard Cursive Calligraphy” achieves an outstanding succeed. “Cursive Calligraphy General Treatise” edited by him is China’s first single type of history of calligraphy and the introduction for the cursive calligraphy learner. The esthetics of calligraphy emphasizes the “whole beauty,” brings out “8 principle of appreciation of the beauty,” and pays attention to the vivid shape of words. The “connotation of word” and the “appearance of the word” are important。The examples in this research will survey how his art works fulfill the main thoughts above. The research compares the development of the changing calligraphy style through the undersigned and the years of calligraphy’s works, and finds out the characteristics of calligraphy through his works of Running Script, Running –regular Script, standard cursive calligraphy, and the poetry with paintings. In order to understand the achievement of You-Ren Yu’s best apprentice, the research gives examples with the same cursive calligraphy contents with You-Ren Yu, analyzes words by words, and compares the way to write. Yian-Tao Liu’s paintings contain the artistic conception of landscape, perfect natural fusion of flower-and-bird, and the simplifying figures. We search for the origin of Liu with the senior professions from the technique of the works and poetries with paintings. In addition, He also has co-operative projects completed with emphasized teamwork spirit and harmonious atmosphere. Yian-Tao Liu emphasizes the moral integrity, erudition, and the thought of beauty of literati. Also, Yian-Tao Liu point out that there are many ways to create an artwork once we pay more attention to tiny things. Even an imperfect painting still has its beauty. The ideal of painting with words or poetries is what he cares about. And, he deems that it is unreasonable to despise the northern works and enthrone the southern works because they all have its advantages and characteristics. Every ideal above creates and forms this new painting system. Yian-Tao Liu’s creative works reflects the present age. The great works combine theories and creativities, and put the professionalism and moral morality into practice. Parts of his works were donated to the National museum of History and Zen Du Artistry Center in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, as goodwill to cultural property of fine arts. He established “Liu Yian- Tao Painting and calligraphy Scholarship” to encourage the new learner and promote the Chinese painting and calligraphy. Yian-Tao Liu’s art works and morality influence and inspire the future world. Also, the contribution of his art works of poetry, calligraphy, and painting is great and Yian-Tao Liu has a place in the art history.
