碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 區域政策與發展研究所 === 98 === When economy grows in a freer society and altering surroundings, a drug abusing phenomenon has spread gradually at the same time. The researcher is devoted to criminal edification, rehabilitation, investigation classification, accounting and health instruction in Taitung Prison, and has seen this specific transformation of criminal phenomenon. Drug users commonly think they asked for trouble by spending money on drugs, because they were placed in jail for purchasing drugs. Through individual rehabilitation sections with drug users, the researcher found reasons of drug abusing events include curiosity, frustration, strong desire for comfort and passive avoidance. The personalities that drug users show are interpersonal alienation, frailty, mood swing, and low self-esteem. For drug abusers to repent and reform, the researcher analyzes their reasons and personalities, and provides proper help with all sorts of sources in rehabilitation. Objects of this research are drug users in Taitung Prison. Samples are selected by general survey method and questionnaires are utilized. In discussing the correlation between drug abuse and intrinsic restraint of a drug abuser, personal factors are the independent variable, and drug abuse and intrinsic restraint are the dependent variable. The result of the research is as follow: 1.The mean value of drug abuse of drug users is higher than the median, which means drug users tend to have a big drug craving problem. Drug users who did commit any other crime tend to show significant difference in knowing drug uses from who did not. Drug users with different education level show significant difference in drug craving variable. 2.The mean value of intrinsic restraint of drug users is higher than the median, which means drug users have a higher desire for intrinsic restraint in drug abuse but lower self-control. With different age, career, varieties of drugs abuse, numbers of entering the prison for drug abuse, mean value of intrinsic restraint of drug users is higher than the median, which shows lower self-control. 3.There is a positive correlation between drug abuse and intrinsic restraint of a drug user. A drug user who abuses drugs more shows lower intrinsic restraint. Empirical study and result analysis are executed in this research. There are three suggestions made for operations of the organization, colleagues and future researchers to use as a reference for drug rehabilitation policy and actual operations.
