Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 98 === The aim of this study is to probe the relationships between positive psychology and high school students’ adjustment to life. A self-developed questionnaire, which includes information on demographic variables, academic achievement, and self-expectations, was applied to this study. The variables are as follows:. The Data from 706 valid subjects were collected from ten high schools (vocational high school students included) in Taitung, and were processed through SPSS 12.0 with descriptive statistic, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson’s product-moment correction, and multiple regression analysis. Several findings show as follows: 1. (vocational) high school students are statistically holding optimistic status; this result varies in consideration of family structure and academic achievement; other background valuables demonstrate no significant difference; 2. students believe that being optimistic is an emotional status and this status may change over time; results may be partially different according to their gender, grades, and social status; other background variables demonstrate no significant difference; 3. results show that an optimistic attitude has significant influence to life among high school students; genders and academic achievement are two significant variables in this section. Other background variables demonstrate no significant difference. 4. close to 75% of the students do expect themselves continuing taking higher education and 55% of them identify themselves as the most influential person in terms of making decisions for their own future; life adjustment is a significant variable in this section. the major difference lays in the adjustment to school life; however, no relevance is shown to be connected to positive psychology; 5. students are generally adjust to life well; grades, family structure and academic achievement are the three significant variables; students’ adjustment to peer relations is better while their adjustment to personal life is not; other background variables demonstrate no significant difference; 6. positive psychological status and life adjustment are positively correlated; an attitude of optimistic, life adjustment, and personal adjustment are closely correlated; 7. background valuables, self-expectation, and positive psychological status held a predictive ability of 20% and 17% of which is the tendency of being optimistic. In the end of this study, the results are applied to suggestions to current education.
