Questionnaire survey is used in this study and totally 57 samples are effective. All samples are selected from the children with autism studying in elementary schools in Wenshan District, Taipei County. Research tools, the Family Environment Factor Scale, the Baisha Adaptive Behavior Scale, are used to collect data. And the resulting data is analyzed by t-test and one-way ANOVA. The following summarizes this study: 1. Family environment of the autism 1) Nuclear Family takes most portions, over than fifty percents, and the following are Stem Family, Extended Family and others. 2) Breeding two children takes most portions, near 60 percents. Breeding one child or more than three children both take 20 percents. 3) The Eldest child and the youngest child take most portions, sum up to 80 percents. The following are the only child, and the middle child. 4) Lower socio-economic status takes most portions. The following are higher socio-economic status and the middle socio-economic status. 2. The family climate of the autism is in moderate degree. 3. The differences in family climate for autism from different family Environment 1) There is no statistically significant difference between the family climate and the family structure or the numbers of siblings or the birth order. 2) There is significant difference between the family climate and the socio-economic status. The middle socio-economic status is superior to the lower ones. 4. The difference in adaptive behavior for autism from different family environments. 1) There is no significant difference in adaptive behavior for different family structures and the number of siblings. 2) There is significant difference in adaptive behavior for the order of birth. And the middle child’s adaptive behavior is superior to the eldest child. 3) There is significant difference in adaptive behavior for socio-economic status. High and middle socio-economic status is superior to low socio-economic status. 5. The difference in adaptive behavior for autism from different family climate 1) There is significant difference in adaptive behavior for marital relationship, parent involvement, and parent-child relationship. 2) There is no difference in adaptive behavior for marital relationship. Finally, according to the results of this study, some suggestions are made for the parents, the education authority, and the teachers.
