During the inspection process, the researcher has found the concept of using campus environment for learning was imbedded in the school campus design. Despite the ideas of the past, current events, or the future vision that contribute a dynamic process which crossover the scientific barrier of environmental learning that completely fulfilled the spirit and goal of nine-year-consistent education. Using campus as an area of environmental exploration can provide a local vision for learning in comparison of solely relying on textbook curriculum. This research found that the teaching curriculum is one of the strategies for transforming campus environment. To design visual art curriculum that are based upon the students’ experience and environmental approach, the teachers need to have the capability of self-construction and integration of their knowledge. By including the campus environment in the visual art classes the students are able to experience, explore and study the campus, and through art learning and creation, they have opportunity to approach, experience and recognize their campus. The teachers, on the other hand, can improve their professional autonomy through the process of observation, self-reflection, re-experiencing, consultation and conversation to clear out questions, to understand their own limitations, and humbly relearn from the environment. By conducting this action research, the researcher himself as a teacher, has expanded his vision of art teaching. Self- reflection promotes action, action brings recognition and caring for the campus. Furthermore, the researcher has also realized that the value of art teaching is not limited to art itself, yet using art as an approach method to guide the students to care the world among us.
Self- reflection promotes action, action brings recognition and caring for the campus. Furthermore, the researcher has also realized that the value of art teaching is not limited to art itself, yet using art as an approach method to guide the students to care the world among us.
