The intellectual structure building process derives the structure utilizing the factor analysis, and the orthogonal rotation of axes used by the Varimax is the most commonly used option in the factor analysis. However, the assumption of applying the orthogonal rotation method is the factors are independent of each other. This factor independence assumption is against our observation in the past since the topics in a research field are related to each other. We therefore apply the oblique rotation method used by Promax, which does not assume the independence among factors. This study compares the factors derived from these two methods in terms of several indicators and the visual effect. The preliminary results indicate that the factors derived from the orthogonal rotation and oblique rotation provide complementary information. To validate the intellectual structure derived by our study, we take the classification results given by an IS field expert’s as the benchmark for comparison. In addition, we also use the classification results derived by another analyst on the same dataset from another study as an additional support. Cronbach's α value is calculated to test the internal consistency of factors. Chen Tsung Teng 陳宗天 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 71 zh-TW
