In this paper, the content analysis has been adopted to explore the general distribution and differences of the Grade 1-9 second stage arts and humanities learning area textbooks with contents related to life education. The study also explores the competence indicator of the textbook’s life education related contents and the corresponding life education category table in order to serve as a reference for the teachers when conducting life education in their teachings.
The study conclusions are as follows:
1. The various versions of the second stage arts and humanities learning area textbooks have present the contents related to life education ,but the ratio is somewhat different.
2. Being as for the whole,the “integration of personality and development of spirituality” occurred most frequently in the second stage arts and humanities learning area textbooks with contents related to life education, followed by “ethical thinking and reflection.” “Ultimate care and practice” has the least occurrences, and thus is the most deficient item.
3. In the second stage arts and humanities learning area textbooks with contents related to life education, the distributions of seven categories have reached significant differences in the various versions, indicating an uneven distribution.
4. In the second stage arts and humanities learning area textbooks with contents related to life education, the distribution of 32 sub-categories has reached significant differences, indicating an uneven distribution.
Based on the study results, the suggestions are as follows:
1. To classify the life education material series to suit each stage of learning and convergence.
2. To generate the Grade 1-9 life education competence indicators in the respective stages of the arts and humanities learning areas in order to incorporate the life education related contents into the textbook and carry out the life education .
