Learners can focus on specific topics or terminologies, publish answers, questions or opinions, and can initiate discussions on annotations made by others, and make re-annotations through a tree structure to further a discussion. Contents of discussion are presented in the forms of websites, allowing knowledge providers to make extensions on current curriculum or topics, and learners, along with other users, to acquire more in-depth readings and further annotations. From such in-depth discussions of specific topics or terminologies, collaborative online learning is reinforced. In this study, observation of students’ usage of the system, feedback questionnaire with the experimental both show that subjects using the Annotation System is beneficial to learning. Most learners make use of the system to interact with their peers and partners in this study also recommended the extent of interaction have improved significantly by the proposed Annotation System.
