Traditional arts and culture not only exist in every corner during our daily life; they also have chances to enter the international arena because of wide-spread circulation of information and continuous advancement of technology. Taiwanese Palmardrama performances bear signs of local features and contain the innate multicultural spirit of creation. This leads to the vigorous modern performance style. Recently, this type of entertainment shines amazingly on the international arena. Because of the invasion of western powers’ cultures and the cultural influences of post-colonial period, every element of the conventional plays was strongly affected by them. However, more new art forms, various types of visual enjoyment, and high quality recreational activities and their combinations also emerge, greatly enriching the content of traditional dramas. Based on the innovative management of the Huang family squad and their works with amazing visual and audio effects, this research tries to analyze the overall transition of the Huang family squad--from traditional plays, television palmardrama, movie palmardrama, to multi-media. Palmardrama--and try to study how it established a highly industrialized, well-organized brand-new image for a declining cultural activity. We will discuss the structural issues of creative culture industry by finding out whether the Huang family squad’s transition is a form of innovative renovation for traditional plays, or simply a new type of entertainment which contains portions of traditional Taiwanese palmardrama?
