Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 藝術與造形設計學系碩士班 === 98 === TSUI Kuang-Yu, a contemporary artist who began his art education since junior high school. Most of his early work focused on measurement action and after finished serving in military the concept had been transformed to “mimicry” notion and had work series such as “Eighteen Copper Guardians in Shao-Lin Temple and Penetration,” and “The Shortcut to the Systematic Life;” until lately, experience of living in overseas village has been integrated into work “Invicible City.” Absurd comedy and daily life implication are always the core notion that unveil in his work; further more, in his lately work he even use the idea of action to intervene in city and society. This thesis mainly studies the action video works of TSUI Kuang-Yu from 1995 to 2008. At the beginning of the study will first review some important event western of performance and video art history and also Taiwan performance art sequence in order to position TSUI Kuang-Yu’s artwork. In addition, the study will base on Henri Bergson’s “Comedy Theory” to analyze TSUI Kuang-Yu’s own humor within his action and also continue to study the concept which he tries to imply after the laughter idea he created. Further more, the study will base on the interview with the artist and video analysis to discuss criticize of social system in nowadays that hidden behind the laughter.
