The author uses Chinese Civil War (between the KMT and the Communist Party) as the historical background and the Tai-Ping Ship (sailed from Shanghai to Taiwan in 1949, but had a shipwreck off the coast of Keelung) as the subject material; the movements are in the following sequence: “Unrest”, “Separation”, “Drifting”, “Burial at sea” and “Far away from home”. In this musical creation, the author attempts to use music as the extension of words and presents this historical tragedy in the form of musical suite, to memorialize the displaced people due to the chaos caused by war. This paper expounds the creation concepts in five movements of “Tai-Ping Ship” and analyzes the entire musical creation. This paper consists of four chapters: the first chapter is based on the creation concepts of “Tai-Ping Ship” and also includes the impulse to musical creation brought by the historical Tai-Ping Ship; the impact and discussion between Eastern and Western cultural elements; extension of emotions and feelings by music instead of words, and provides examples to demonstrates how these creation concepts are presented in the five movements of “Tai-Ping Ship”. Chapter Two mainly discusses the structure and form (musical section selection), and musical techniques such as orchestration and composition, pitch making and rhythm pattern. Chapter Three of paragraph analyzes the section structure, composition and orchestration, pitch and rhythm for each movement. Chapter Four is the overall conclusions and reviews of the paper. 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 98 === Abstract
“Tai-Ping Ship” consists of five movements.
