碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 音樂學系 === 98 === Taiwan recent year’s artistic creation started a new trend, a “Taiwanese style”. The native cultural source material value has raise as well. Music has also moved forward to join our country culture element. The composer, Dr. Wen-Pin Hope Lee was born in 1967. He started his variety style of composition since he was in the National Taiwan Normal University. After he earned his D.M.A degree in Music Art from Boston University in January 1999, he returned to Taiwan and worked very constructive in creating music. His works comprise a variety of genres, including orchestral music, chamber music, piano music, chorus, theatre, multimedia performance art, and so on. Even now he still regularly conducted the work publication. The number of his composition is fruitful; besides, he is also one of the important native composers in Taiwan. The thesis of this article is aimed to examine compositions of the native composer, Dr. Wen-Pin Hope Lee’s music piece “My Hometown In Our Homeland, A Music Series of Lu Gang”, and analyze his style, creating idea, aesthetic point of view, and also the influence of traditional Taiwanese culture in his concept of creative composing. Dr. Lee is not only persevering in his native culture, but he also attempts to integrate music creation to the education of music, thus expanding the beauty of Taiwanese music to the world of music. This let the next generation to feel and appreciate their cultural music and its importance, hoping to further introduce Taiwanese music to the rest of the world.
