The research results revealed that when lumbar and pelvic supports were simultaneously employed with the thickness of the supports remaining the same, the lumbar angle is closer to the angle in standing and the pelvic angle resembles the upright sitting angle in comparison with the other two support conditions. In terms of pressure, simultaneous lumbar and pelvic supports provide a larger contact area of the back with less peak pressure, and the distance between the thighs and the center-of-gravity position of a chair seat is shorter when compared with the other two back support conditions. In the existence of the three back supports, the use of femoral support effectively reduces the peak pressure on a chair seat while enlarging the contact area of both the chair seat and the back.
