It has been surrounded by mountains within its area, the weak conditions of the terrains and the lacks of the arable lands cause the restrictions for the development of agriculture and the variety of crops, also make the effects on the distribution of the hamlets and the route of the reclamation. Therefore, ZuoZhen Township has developed unique agricultural characters and the tribal culture. Faith has gradually become a kind of cultural character and living mode to the residents, due to the adaption and adjustment of all kinds of natural and humane geographical environment for a long run. ZuoZhen Township is a small village in remote mountains, but has the variety in religions. It includes 19 public temples worship 26 kinds of Gods, near 10 households worship LAO JYUN、TAI ZU, over 40 small temples in country field, and 4 Christian churches within the area. Having different religions is an important character for the recognition of community along with the function to gather up the centripetal force of the residents. Pingpu tribes are the aboriginals of ZuoZhen Township and still remain a stable percentage widely living within the area nearby the Christian churches nowadays. So far, the middle age ones are the main population in the construction of age in ZuoZhen; the young age ones are decreasing according to the trend towards fewer children; the old age ones are in trend of increasing, it reaches the second place of the aging index in Tainan County, which shows that Zouzhen area has been getting into a highly aging society. Food provisions like rice and sweet potato are the main economical crops in Forty and Fifty age; while nowadays high economical crops like mangos, bananas, and bamboo sprouts are planted and special ones like PO BU ZIH、Chinese yam, bird’s nest fern. The difference of the industry is affected by the whole society and environment, and also to accommodate the transitions of the geographical surroundings and population construction, which made the tribal culture is today.
