碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 科技管理研究所碩士班 === 98 === According to the literature review, many scholars investigating the effects of the technological diversification on industries built for a long time have believed that technological diversification has positive influences on the industry’s sales and profits. However, there are few studies investigating the effects of the technological diversification on new-build industries. Due to the rise of the intellectual property, patents have been widely discussed. A patent could be a standard to measure the technical capability. As a result, the technological diversification is regarded as a standard to measure industry’s growth and competitive strength. The purpose of this study aims to investigate the effects of the technological diversification on new industry’s technology marginal productivity and growth. The main subject of this study is the solar energy photovoltaic industry of Taiwan. The samples of this study are sixteen solar energy photovoltaic industries. The data are secondhand information collected from the Patent Guider data base. The empirical results indicated that the technological diversification had negative influences on industry’s technology marginal productivity but had positive influences on industry’s growth.
