First, the Ni-K catalyst grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs), We describe a reverse water gas shift reaction (RWGS,H2 + CO2→CO + H2O) on K/Ni/Al2O3 catalysts. We obtained after reaction at different times by different carbon structures. When the reaction time of 1-10 min, we can find unstable needle- like structures of carbon, when the reaction time of 1-7 hr, we can find needle- like structures of carbon and CNFs. When the reaction time of 16-72 h, we can find CNFs. Second ,o silver catalyst grown carbon nanotubes (CNTs), Silver sulfate impregnation in silica as catalyst growth of CNTs by chemical vapor deposition (CVD).We added hydrogen in carbon source can improved deactivation of the catalysts, and catalyst in sulfur content can enhance the formation of CNTs. The value of the activation energy (Ea = 214 kJ mol−1) of the CNTs growth reaction is suggestive of different than iron group metal catalyst growth mechanism. We suggested the growth mechanism is carbon deposited on the catalyst surface and then transform CNTs. Third, polygonal carbon nanocapsules (PCNCs) is prepared by arc discharge. PCNCs are easily to be found in the as-grown soot synthesized by arc-discharge with other carbon materials, such as CNTs, graphene and carbon black. PCNCs maintain a high crystalline structure and high thermal stability after processing by the high-temperature oxidation. Speculation is that the carbon layer to stay attached to other structures so that the other three materials can be maintain of high oxidation temperature.
