If they were unable to find out the significance from the data and to gain their own insight into the data to draw a proper conclusion, there will be difficult to form high level science concept. This brings out the importance to cultivate students with summarizing ability. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of heuristic science writing on the summarizing ability of some senior elementary students. This study has applied both quality and quantity researches equally to take two classes of sampling fifth grades elementary school studends in Tainan County. One class is the experimental class with 33 people. The other is the comparison class with 28 people. During the science learning, the researcher collected the test results before and after the learning, handed out the science writing sheet, student’s natural science diary, teacher’s teaching journal, and interview records, the learning feedback sheet, and relevant documents etc, processing the analysis of information. The results indicated that: 1. It was helpful to upgrade the summarizing ability of most students when the guided science writing strategy was applied to the learning of the nature and life technology for the senior elementary students. 2. The degree of acceptance for the guided science writing strategy was high, and the students support the continuance of the learning strategy. 3. The response, toward the application of the guided science writing strategy was very positive, for example, the sense of accomplishment, cultivation of thinking ability, high motivation to learn, etc. Finally, two suggestions was given for teacher trying to implement heuristic science writing strategy to his/her teaching or to do a research afterwards: 1. On teaching, it is suggested to pay more attention on encouraging students to express their own opinions and to build up their confidence. 2. On future research, it is suggested to apply the science writing strategy on other fields to cultivate the organizing, induction, expressing and reflection abilities of the students, to aim at different level of students to do research, lengthen the study duration, reduce the content of the science writing sheet to avoid delaying the teaching progress.
