碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 國語文學系碩士班 === 98 === ABSTRACT This paper discusses the protection of women and children of Tutelary God temples in Tainan City. Three temples are taken as an example - Lady Linshui Temple, Kai-Long Temple, and Wan-Fu Temple. Through an introduction to the reason of faith, history, legends, and some descriptions on the ceremony of these temples, to raise public awareness for the protection of women and children, especially when we’re in the Era of rapid technological advance. Dependency between women and children will not disappear; on the contrary, it is increasing with the lapse of time. History tells us that, a few hundred years ago, people had already worshiped the Tutelary God, from which sought to protect children grow up in peace, and women could live well to take care of the family. Therefore, living in modern time, naturally we shouldn’t ignore the protection of women and children. Compare to the past, women and children now live with even more things that’s against them, for example, domestic violence, rape, child abuse, etc. Criminal cases are increasing which affects the safety and life of women and children. This article wants to use this research to tell the world, the importance of protecting women and children.
