It not only lets us understand the people lifestyle in that era, but also makes us feel their true emotions such as delight, anger, sorrow and happiness. Following the Guo Feng and Yuefu the folk songs have a brand-new style in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Wuge Xiqu in Southern Dynasties sings boldly the true love with the tone of female and it overflowed with passion and strength. It presents touching love poems, and also creates the obvious and unique images of female. In contents, structures, language styles, artistic expressions, etc., Wuge Xiqu has innovative aspects. And it has a profound effect on literati, palace-style poetry and Tang Dynasty poetry. In the history of poetry, Wuge Xiqu is really important, unique value and historical status. There are six chapters in the dissertation. Chapter one is introduction, including the motivation, predecessors’ research and methods and the range of research . Chapter two is an analysis of Wuge Xiqu, including developing times and regions, background . Chapter three is to discuss the female images of the Wuge Xiqu from identity. Chapter four is to discuss the female images of the Wuge Xiqu from appearance, emotion, and images. Chapter five is to discuss the artistic expression of the female images in Wuge Xiqu from its features of form and linguistic, and make an analysis about the influence of Wuge Xiqu on the literati, palace-style poetry and Tang Dynasty poetry. Chapter six is to make conclusions for the topic and five chapters.
