Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育測驗統計研究所 === 99 === This study aims to study the relationship between the b-value and the correlation dimension (DC) from the aftershock of the earthquake zone in the eastern Taiwan. Meanwhile, the application of the fractal dimension of the drawings and calligraphy works done by elementary school students is analyzed.
The results about the earthquake are listed as below,
1. The fault system of the earthquake zone in the eastern Taiwan is unstable from 1974 to 1978, 1992 to 2000, and 2000 to 2007.
2. During 1978 to 1992, the earthquake zone in the eastern Taiwan belongs is single fault system within the range centered at 23.5°~24°N 121.5°~122°E and 23.6°~34°N 122.5°~123°E.
3. A big earthquake could be predicted when the b-value is less than .6 , the value of DC is less than 1.65, and the difference between these two values is larger than .9, or when the b-value is less than .8 , the value of DC is less than 1.1, and both values are declining.
4. The correlation between the b-value and the value of DC of the earthquake zone in the eastern Taiwan during 1974 to 2007 is DC=1.683.0.30837b, indicating that the earthquake zone there is a complex multi-fault system.
Another results of the analysis about the fractal dimension of the elementary school students’ drawings indicate that the development of children’s drawing fits in with both Lwenfeld’s theory of the development of children’s drawings and Gardner’s U-type theory.
Also, in the application of calligraphy, the fractal dimension could be used as a method of assessment
