This study, based on Marx’s (1818-1883) concept—labor creates beauty, aims to demonstrate the life styles and the inner feelings of the labors in Taiwan. Incorporating realism and pop art, the researcher emphasizes the orderly quiet atmosphere in the work. In addition, the objects depicted in the work can be categorized into realization or plane imagery. Moreover, the depictions of space are expressed by means of color contrast. This study, focusing on the social topics, concerns the lower class oppressed in the metropolitan development. It may arouse the reflections on metropolitan life, may highlight the importance of mental life, and may decode the postmodern context with societal change. The theoretical basis and life experiences have a direct or indirect effect on the creation. In this study, the creation involves oil painting as an expression medium. Additionally, two series of works in this study, Struggles for Existence and Reality Reconstruction, which are different in topical content, intend to uncover the varieties of how the labors in the society express their feelings.
