Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 社會科教育學系碩士班 === 99 === Abstract The purpose of this research was to investigate the senior Tzu-Chi volunteers’ service condition, the original participative and prolonged motives, transition in values, as well as service predicament and solution. This study was preceded with qualitative research method by in-depth interviewing twelve senior Tzu-Chi volunteers with semi-structured questions about their service participation; data were also collected by participant observation. According to this purpose, the research questions were : (1) What are the original motives for the senior Tzu-Chi volunteers in participating the service? (2) What’s the content of the work and learning? How did they adjust their mentality in the course of service? (3) Why did the volunteers participate abidingly? (4) What the transition were made in the volunteers during the participation? (5) What obstacles did the volunteers encounter in course of service and what are the solutions? Each interview was audio-taped and transcribed word by word. The thematic analysis was used to identify and clarify the themes through the interpretation of meaning of the text. The results were as following : (1) There are four types of the volunteers’ original motive for participative, such as egoistic motivation, altruistic motivation, affected motivation and touched by the spirit of Tzu-Chi. (2) Volunteers’ content of the work and learning are divers and great who be aware of the change of their mentality adjustment. (3) The reason of volunteers’ abiding participation were come from individual inner contentment, encouragement from others and environmental factors. (4) There are aspects of the volunteers’ transition : personality, habits and customs, family relationships, relationships and life value. (5) There are three reasons include individual, relationship and manager of organization were service predicament in volunteers’ course. The solution were self-enrichment, encourage on another and help from the organization.
