The study proceeds in the way of taking the multiple probe design across behaviors of single-subject experimental design. The three participants with moderate mental retardation are placed in mental retardation classes of an elementary school in Taichung city. The independent variable is multimedia picture books instruction programs. The dependent variable is the oral expressive ability of the three participants, including the scores of “initiative expression needs”, “initiative expression inquiries” and “initiative expressing one’s feelings”. The experimental design has three treatment phases-the baseline, the experimental instruction phase and the retention phase. This study lasted for 13 weeks. The data collected is analyzed by using graphic display and visual analysis as well as descriptive statistic. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. Three participants of initiative expression needs have significantly higher examination scores during intervention phase than baselines and this behavior was maintained. 2. Three participants of initiative expression inquiries have significantly higher examination scores during intervention phase than baselines and this behavior was maintained. 3. Three participants of initiative expressing one’s feelings have significantly higher examination scores during intervention phase than baselines and this behavior was maintained. 4. Teachers and parents of the three tested subjects all support the multimedia picture books instruction programs and have agreement that after the multimedia picture books instruction programs involvement, students’ social skills have the enhancement. In the final part, according to the above results, this study would propose the relative suggestions for future teaching and research. Chen Tang Hou 侯禎塘 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 165 zh-TW
