Many certified babysitters receive the knowledge of breastfeeding through their affiliated association. The aim of the study was to explore the experiences of certified babysitters in care of breastfed babies.
In-depth interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of 14 certified babysitters. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Three themes were identified from the babysitters’ reports: “matching and communicating the mutual needs with the parents”, “establishing an adequate care management”, and “enhancing job competitiveness”. Furthermore, the babysitter’s perceptions, adjustments and needs for continuing education were also discussed. The findings can help designing practical contents for the babysitters in their future training course.
